At its heart lies a national park, designated as such in 1967, and a member of the EUROPARC Federation of National Parks. Covering an area of 3,494 hectares, the park also includes a special hunting reserve spanning 16,000 hectares.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

The central plateau of the mountain Mrakovica stands out as a Memorial Zone established in 1972 to honor the fighters and people of Potkozarje who lost their lives during World War II.<\/p>\n

The zone comprises of a museum, memorial monument and a wall inscribed with the names of the fallen. This location hosts poignant history lessons recounting Kozara\u2019s epic struggle for freedom.<\/p>\n

For mountain biking lovers, the Kozara National Park offers four well-marked MTB trails. These trails, catering to both recreational and professional cyclists, wind through the park\u2019s stunning landscapes, offering thrilling rides along forest paths, meadows and slopes. The diverse flora and fauna, scenic viewpoints, streams, and dynamic terrain enhance the experience, making every ride uniquely enjoyable. Trails traverse existing paths, including asphalt and gravel roads, forest tracks and logging trails, making them suitable for training, competition or leisurely exploration.<\/p>\n

At the location of Zeciji Kamen in the Kozara National Park, a climbing wall has been set up, offering an exciting challenge for climbing enthusiasts. This climbing site features 30 equipped routes ranging from 10 to 60 meters in length, with top-notch safety equipment such as 10×80 stainless steel bolts and factory-made anchors. Two of the longest routes are 60m long.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hiking is the best way to experience the natural beauty of Kozara National Park. Its dynamic terrain, characterized by prominent peaks, ridges, and slopes along with dense deciduous and coniferous forests, numerous springs and streams, and picturesque landscapes, makes hiking an unforgettable adventure.<\/p>\n

The park features 6 marked hiking trails of varying difficulty and length, all of which can be explored without a guide. For those interested in discovering the wider area of Kozara National Park, guided hiking tours with experienced guides are also available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For winter sports enthusiasts, three ski slopes are available: two for older visitors and one designed for the youngest snow lovers.<\/p>\n

Kozara ski slope 1,650m long, is equipped with a \u201cplate\u201d ski lift with a capacity of 900 skiers per hour. The slope is illuminated by floodlights, suitable for night skiing. In the absence of natural snow, snow cannons cover the entire slope with artificial snow, ensuring winter sports enjoyment.<\/p>\n

The second slope, Kozara 2, is 850m long and features an \u201canchor\u201d ski lift with a capacity of 1,500 skiers per hour.<\/p>\n

The children\u2019s ski slope is approximately 200m long and equipped with a mini ski lift and ski conveyor belt.<\/p>\n

For those who have yet to master skiing, instructors are available to provide lessons. Additionally, ski equipment rental is offered on-site.<\/p>\n
