It is clear that this area was inhabited by people of Illyrian origin, which later mixed with the Celts and other immigrants, including Slavic tribes. Among Roman finds are the remains of an old Christian basilica churches in the villages of Imljani and Javorani, indicating a significant degree of population and cultural development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; margin: 0in 0in 11.25pt 0in;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"color: #222222;\">Roman bricks were discovered below the road which led from Banja Luka to Kne\u017eevo and further on, in the villages Kosti\u0107i and Ra\u0111i\u0107i, which indicates the existence of watch houses along the Roman roads. There are also traces of ste\u0107ak tombstones &#8211; upright stone slabs decorated with paintings and reliefs (village Ba\u0161tina, Mramorije in Kobilja and Barice in village Borak).<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The municipality of Kne\u017eevo was also inhabited in ancient times, probably during the Neolithic period.
