Jahorina

Jahorina is one of the most beautiful Olympic mountains, crowned by its highest peak, Ogorjelica, at an altitude of 1916 meters. Renowned for its appeal to both winter sports enthusiasts and lovers of unspoiled nature and fresh mountain air, Jahorina stands as a leading tourist destination in the area of Istocno Sarajevo, as well as in Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Located just 25 kilometers from Sarajevo International Airport, it accounts for over 85% of all tourist arrivals and overnight stays in East Sarajevo. On busy ski weekends, it can attract up to 15000 visitors in a single day.

Jahorina has 52 kilometers of alpine ski trails, served by 17 vertical transportation installations. The resort features 11 homologated ski slopes, 8.5 kilometers of tracks meeting FIS standards, and 11.5 kilometers of well-lit trails for night skiing.

XIV Winter Olympic Games were hosted by Sarajevo and the former Yugoslavia from February 8 to 19, 1984. Games were hosted on mountains Jahorina, Bjelasnica, Igman, Trebevic, Cvrsnica and others, as well in the Sarajevo City itself. On Jahorina, women competed in events such as giant slalom, slalom and downhill skiing.

The mountain is not only a ski paradise but also a hotspot for entertainment, hosting major concerts, music festivals, and other lively events. Jahorina’s tourism infrastructure includes facilities for various sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, handball, and futsal, catering to both professional teams and recreational visitors.

For adrenaline seekers, the resort offers mountain biking, quad biking, paintball and paragliding. Visitors also enjoy hiking tours, foraging for forest fruits and medicinal herbs and exploring nearby cities like Sarajevo, Mostar, Visegrad and Travnik.
