Rafting

For those who want to try themselves on the wild currents of rivers and rapids, Srpska has much to offer. Rafting is especially popular on the Tara and Vrbas rivers, which provide an opportunity for active rest in a unique natural environment.

The World Rafting Championship was held on the Vrbas and Tara rivers in 2009 and 2022, which speaks volumes about how exciting rafting is on these rivers, both for amateurs and professionals. Additionally, the Vrbas River is perfect for kayaking and canoeing.

Vrbas

The main river flow of Banja Luka, the Vrbas, with its blue-green color and landscapes, is one of the most beautiful rivers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. South of Banja Luka, the Vrbas has created a fantastic canyon, home to a series of natural rarities. Rapids, waterfalls, whirlpools, beaches, surrounding rocks, and the richness of plant and animal life make this area special.

The Vrbas is a river where many events and sports competitions are held. Water sports, for which this river provides excellent conditions, are a particular attraction. A unique feature of this river is the “dajak” boat, which gets its name from the pole used to push the boat.

Tara

The Tara River is one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, with a canyon that stretches 80 km. The Tara Canyon, with a depth of 1300 m, is the deepest in the Old Continent, and after the Grand Canyon, it ranks second in the world. Its water is exceptionally clean and represents the largest European natural reserve of drinking water, which is why it is called the “Tear of Europe.” The last 25 km of its course run through the municipality of Foča. In the municipality, a total of 21 camps are registered, with accommodation capacity of around 1300 beds.
